Word International Ministries traces its origins to the Philippines where it was birthed in 1997.

 

Its name comes from John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God”. It is an international church planting movement with churches in Canada and over 30 other countries. It is committed to evangelism, missions, church planting, and leadership development.

 

The ministry is driven by its mandate of “Winning People to Become Followers of Jesus Christ” and is guided by four (4) core values that form the name of the church acronym W.O.R.D.; these four core values are Worship, Outreach, Relationship, and Discipleship. While the ministry was birthed in the Philippines, we no longer see ourselves as purely a Filipino community but an international community of churches, embracing all cultures and recognizing that God’s desire is that “none should perish but for all to come to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ."

 

The opening of a new church plant in Sherwood Park offers the opportunity to pursue our mandate of “Winning People to Become Followers of Jesus Christ". The prospective members of this new congregation would be from the two growing home life groups from Edmonton North and Sherwood Park.

 

We would like to thank the Sherwood Park United Church for graciously opening the doors of their home to us and allowing us to use their church facilities as we pursue God’s call for us to establish a church in Sherwood Park.
